ROCHESTER, MN: Mohamed Bakari Shei, a Rochester, Minnesota man who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing children, received a sentence of 180 days in jail with credit for four days served after repeatedly raping two young girls.
Mohamed Bakari Shei was sentenced to only 180 days in jail with credit for time served for raping two young girls (ages 4 and 9) by District Judge Jacob Allen on January 30th, 2023.
The sentence also included 30 years of probation with a stay of adjudication, 200 hours of community service, and "sex offender programming", but he is NOT required to register as a sex offender.

Mohamed Bakari Shei Repeatedly Rapes Two Young Girls
According to reports, Mohamed Bakari Shei was 15 to 16 years old when the sexual abuse of the two children occurred between 2017 and 2019.
In 2021, Mohamed Shei was accused of repeatedly raping a 9-year-old girl between 2018 and 2019.
Shei was later accused of repeatedly raping a second child, who was 4-5 years old when the rapes occurred in 2017 and 2018. Leading to two more counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Mohamed Bakari Shei was facing three different felony first-degree criminal conduct charges in two separate cases. He entered an Alford plea December 2022. That means that he does not admit guilt, but he admits that a jury would convict him based on the evidence.
Ultimately, he can also have the charges removed from his record all together if he completes probation because he pleaded guilty to the two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct using an "Alford plea" involving two friends of his sister at the time.
His plea deal included a stay of adjudication and the dismissal of two out of three charges and no prison time.
Mohamed Bakari Shei only received 180 of jail with credit for time served and he may have served his "176 days via work release or Sentence to Serve, a community project option for offenders who are considered non-violent."
If Mohamed Bakari Shei completes his probation, all of the charges against him will be dismissed and removed from his criminal record.
